Training in practical work of young hunting dogs

A dog is known to be a person’s best friend, and any dog is a reliable assistant. Especially if it is a hunting breed. Agree, it is virtually impossible to imagine modern hunting without a dog.

But any breed, regardless of cost and pedigree, must undergo mandatory training in order to increase the effectiveness of the entire hunting process. It is known that training of hunting dogs, or, as this process is also called, training, is carried out starting from the age of seven or twelve months. To a greater extent, this depends directly on the breed and its characteristics.

The procedure itself can take place in different ways. For example, spaniels and cops are trained alone. In order to maximize acceleration and obtain high efficiency of barks, as well as greyhounds, it is best to train together with more experienced Pets. But in this case, you should be very careful: as soon as a young dog begins to understand the requirements and it opens a true, hunting passion, you should let go of an experienced dog and slowly accustom the young to single hunting. This is necessary in order for the dog to act alone on the hunt, as well as in order to avoid risks of inheriting shortcomings in the work of the old “hunter”. At first, you may find some confusion in the actions of the ward, but over time, this uncertainty will pass and you will become the owner of a really reliable assistant.

Before you start training a dog, you must clearly understand all the specifics of hunting a certain breed. Important: in no case should you increase physical activity, to which the breed has not adapted dogs. This can lead to a loss of concentration, and the dog’s body can simply not stand it, and all your efforts will be wasted. On the other hand, no concessions can be made to the dog either.

Everything should be clear and according to the instructions. Special attention should be paid to those aspects that will be used as much as possible when hunting with your dog. In addition, it should be noted that specialized training, also known as dog training, should be carried out in specially prepared places. And for maximum efficiency, you need to choose the right period. Training periods are formed almost at the state level.

So, for example, nagonka and nataska on field or marsh game is carried out in the period from July 20 to November 15. Catching squirrels or hog game – from the beginning of August to the end of February. Waterfowl – from early August to mid-November. For Fox and hare – from the beginning of November to the end of February.

As for the training sites, they are limited to foresters. But if we are talking about a young dog and its first serious training, some indulgences are possible. For example, if the dog stole the prey from a neighboring forest management, the owner is not subject to a fine.
